MM: There came a point when I thought: imagine, all that work and nothing green. That’s not right. Then I created a work with four stacked colored blocks —(–/–/–/–). Just as with Landscape with Colors these are colors for which no words exist. Not quite purple, not quite green, not quite white, not quite red. Hence the dashes in the title. The stack is slightly taller than the average person, 181.5 centimeters (5 feet 11 inches), so that it appears as if someone’s standing next to you, composed of four colors, four decisions. When I use color in my work it must be a conscious decision.
